The Meaning of Empowerment
What does it mean to be truly empowered? To empower means to make (someone) strong and more confident, especially in controlling their life. By empowering yourself, you open yourself to the reality of pursuing your goals. Cultivate your influence over the space around you and connect to the vision you hold for yourself. Once you do, you will be unstoppable!
So often people create their own worst moments, focusing on their weaknesses or why they just “can’t” achieve their goals or live to their values. This way of being, in fact, leads to disempowerment. By becoming empowered, you find your voice and far exceed your expectations.
There are many ways to cultivate a more grounded, empowered you. It is important to intentionally carve out time to empower yourself, to rewrite the old story that has held you back, and to truly become the creator of your life and your well-being.
I recommend taking a few minutes each day, if possible, to reflect. You may ask yourself, or write about, the following:
“What are my strengths?”
“What are my goals for today, this week, this month that help me to live to my truest self?”
“What would happen if?….”
“What is my inner voice telling me?”
Be brave, be specific! Perhaps you will set a goal to interact briefly with one new person this week, to speak up in a work meeting, or to set a limit with a family member who takes from you or of you without giving in return. Take a few moments to foster your own empowerment – you’ll be glad you did.
